Greetings delegates! I’m Timmy Chang, a junior at Dominican Int’l Taipei, and I’ll be serving you all as the chair of the Security Council. Ching Cheng Model-UN will be my 11th conference and second time chairing, so if I make any random mistakes during the conference, do please correct me! Some tiny facts about me, I’m a total typical high school student, I procrastinate and sleep like A LOT, but I never lose my passion when it comes to anything. My MUN journey began during my freshman year, and this might sound a bit cliché, but I had fallen in love with this thingy ever since. Model UN was also the one to motivate me to be more sociable and to participate in other debate events, which is why I hope the same, or any other positive impacts, goes to you as well; doesn’t matter if it’s just a small step out of your personal circle or a simple negotiation with the others, as long as you improve, it will certainly be progress.
The Security Council might seem the most difficult one among all, and yes, you are totally right about that (not trying to discourage you here :P ). Yet, this is usually the committee that delegates love the most and you’ll see why. As the topic, “Peace Coalition in West Africa,” goes into discussion, this tiny-15 delegates-committee will be the best opportunity for you to say as much as you want and to express as many ideas as you desire, for this ain’t something you’re able to do during a hundred delegates’ general assembly. So do NOT fear what’s coming up, DO enjoy it and have fun throughout the progress, trust me, it’s gonna be awesome :)
